Cape Farewell 3 hydrographic station
Cape Farewell 3 at 59°16 N - 44°46 W is a standard hydrographic station on the Cape Farewell section and part of the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources monitoring program. The purpose of the marine monitoring program is to register specific physical properties of the sea water column, such as temperature and salinity, at the same geographical location once every year, and compare these repeated registrations with previous years' recordings. Hydrographic measurements are typical carried out with a so-called "CTD" instrument (Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth). The hydrographic station is monitored one time each year in June/July.
