Science / project plan

The aim of the program is to create a high-resolution habitat maps of West Greenland region by combining acoustic survey equipped with multi-beam sonar with conventional ground-truth sampling. We will utilize the modernized research platform ‘Sanna’ for habitat mapping in Greenland. This project will provide new information on the prevalence of various benthic habitats and associated faunal communities necessary to ensure representative environmental assessments and fisheries management of the Greenland seafloor, thus contributing to fundamental knowledge in natural and environmental management in Greenland eventually forming the basis for overall Marine Spatial Planning.

The multi beam group participate in this cruise utilizing the T-50-R ER sonar onboard SANNA and assist with other technical services.
