Polar Knowledge Canada is contacting you because we have identified you as an expert on the Arctic and/or Antarctic. As such, we would like to include you in a revitalized Polar Knowledge App that we intend to launch in the coming months.
Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR) is a new and innovative Government of Canada agency that was created in June 2015 to advance polar knowledge for the benefit of northerners and all Canadians. Our mandate is to advance knowledge of the Canadian Arctic; promote the development and dissemination of knowledge of other circumpolar regions, including Antarctica; strengthen Canada’s leadership on Arctic issues; and establish a hub for scientific research in the Arctic. POLAR's Knowledge Mobilization Team is specifically tasked with the diffusion of knowledge to its intended users through awareness, engagement, and outreach activities, and by enhancing people’s capacity to make use of that knowledge.
Polar Knowledge Canada is currently revamping the App to update the information about leading Canadian or international experts, such as yourself, upcoming polar science conferences, links to funding opportunities, and more information about doing research in Canada’s North. The purpose is to create a platform for users to access a spectrum of polar knowledge by connecting Arctic and Antarctic experts, locating polar science infrastructure and monitoring sites, and learning more about northern communities.
If you would like to be profiled in this App, please reply to firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact information, title, expertise, organization affiliation, research locations, ORCHID number, location, and website by May 31, 2016. Please take the time to fill out the information on both pages in the attached document.
Should you like to include anyone that you think should be profiled in the App, please feel free to share this information.
Thank you for your time and please don’t hesitate to contact me (Regienna.Baggayan@polar.gc.ca) should you have any questions.
