Science / project plan

The research purpose of field season 2019 for Greenland Institute of Natural Resources is to collect multi-beam data together with physical ground-truthing from 4 target areas on the Greenland West Coast in order to map seafloor habitats in the Arctic. This work will provide new knowledge on benthic topography and biodiversity, thus securing fisheries management and environmental assessments to be used in advising Government of Greenland on sustainable use of marine resources.

For this sub-project, the fjords around Sisimiut are mapped using the Teledyne RESON T-50R-ER multi beam instrument onboard R/V SANNA, primarily using the night time during fishery surveys in the region.
